Voluntary Action Group for Differently Abled Persons is aimed at providing integrated services to various categories of differently-abled children. It was established in the year 2008 by a group of dedicated people coming from different walks of life. The centre since its inception has been actively engaged in providing help and support to children with different abilities. It wants them to live a life of self respect and confidence as one of their fundamental rights. The centre does not believe in the concept of charity but rather wish to empower these people and their families to live with dignity like any other ordinary person. It wants to ensure a dignified place for these people within the family and community

Mission
VAG-DAP is voluntary response to providing help to physically and intellectually impaired children.
- To provide quality services to physically and intellectually disabled children;
- To promote disability awareness in the community, in all primary, secondary and tertiary levels;
- To help them gain their rights and enjoy an equal opportunity in all aspects of their life;
- To value their lives as human beings and treat them with respect and dignity;
- To include the disability issue in the mainstream national agenda.
Our Aims & Objectives:
The aim of the centre is to provide integrated support and empower differently-able people to lead a live with confidence, self respect and dignity as one of their fundamental rights.

Objectives
- To provide a quality service for physically and intellectually impaired children.
- To help disabled children enjoy the equality of opportunity and the rights of non-disabled children in all aspects of their lives.
- To promote awareness and knowledge of disability, on the principle of the ‘Social Model of Disability’ and most of all to include disability issues in the mainstream agenda.
- To collaborate with government and all non-government organizations in promoting the quality of life for disabled children in Myanmar.
- To advocate disability issues in mainstream development program.

Inclusive School for Children between age group of 2-8 years
This school is for all children up to the age of 8 years. The school has all facilities like any other school but with focus on the aim of integrating children with different abilities with other children. It provides quality education with professionally designed course curriculum to develop the overall personality of a child with focus on life skills. The school has following facilities;

Special School for Differently Able Children above the age of 8 years
The Centre has a special school for differently abled children where education as per their specific needs and abilities is provided under the supervision of experienced and dedicated team of professionals. The school is well equipped with all the modern equipments and educational aids. Here every child receives special attention as an individual and learning is imparted through a play-way method, and as per his own pace and ability to learn and internalize that learning

The
centre is fully equipped with occupational lab with all modern gadgets, like
Ultrasound, diathermy, Wax-Bath, parallel bar etc., to treat our children on
regular basis.

Physiotherapy
Physiotherapy service is one of the main services at the centre. This service is provided by qualified physiotherapist and two therapy aids at the present. Basic exercise therapy and how to handle the child at home are trained to the family members or care givers by the therapist as it is needed.

Resource Centre for Differently Abled Children
The organization also works as a Resource Centre for differently abled children where well documented and classified information collected from various sources in print as well as in electronic form are kept and updated. This helps in creating community awareness on the issue, and facilitates the dialogue with government and other stake holders as a form of effective advocacy to bring about desired changes in polices and schemes with regard to the welfare of differently abled children.

Conducting Social Surveys & Research Studies
The organization also conducts survey and research studies to assess and analyze various aspects of the problems concerning the lives of differently able people. The data and information collected through these surveys and research studies help in providing needed inputs to various policy making and implementing agencies to formulate or affect necessary changes in their policies and approaches with regard to the rehabilitation of people with different abilities.

Community based Rehabilitation Programme
The organization also initiates community based rehabilitation programme under which awareness camps are held in various slums, JJ clusters and other areas to create better understanding on the issue among the people and to sensitize them towards the specific need of differently able children. People in the community are encouraged and motivated to come forward and extend their helping hand in improving the living standard and making a change in the lives of differently able children.

- To empower people disadvantaged by disability, poverty, leprosy to participate in community life.
- To improve the quality of life, mobility, educational achievement for children with disability.
Counseling to Parents & Guardians
The centre helps and supports these children to develop their skills in their own way and utilize all opportunities to make their life better. It also actively involves their parents and other family members in the whole process of integrating the child within the family and community. Parents are invited to observe and participate in various activities and learn about how to provide the best care and attention to their children.
